Broadband Internet Services Archives

MeDdErS asked:

Hi, I currently use AOL Silver broadband and a resident of the UK in North Wales. It’s £14.99 a month, the problem is that I have a laptop, and I want to go wireless, but I saw an AOL offer wireless broadband £14.99 a month with free router. I phoned AOL and asked them to register for that, but they said only for new members. So, that good offer went, I still want to go wireless, so I looked all over the internet for some good ISPs with unlimited usage, free online help, £14.99 a month etc like AOL. Unfortunately, there weren’t any, but I’m not sure if I buy a wireless router I can go wireless with the current ISP I have, just connect it to the broadband line, and I’m not sure if my laptop is wireless-enabled, it hasn’t got centrino, but u can get wireless without that I think. If anyone knows then tell me any suggestions, because I just want to know if I buy a wireless router, I can get wireless, I am a computer technician, I should know all this but this is the one thing I don’t, lol

I keep getting disconnections on my broadband?

gunnerandy28 asked:

my broadband disconnects fairly frequently, at least 4 or 5 times a day. Is this normal. I run task manager and my pc seems to be operating fine. Are these disconnections down to my isp. My wiring is all correct. Is there anything I can do to stop disconnections or at least limit them. I connect to a speedtouch 330 modem. which according to the tests I’v done is working fine.

I’m using ADSL for internet connection. Recently I bought Unicorn wireless broadband router (4 LAN port + 802.11g) for my desktop PC (with LAN connection) and wireless laptop to share ADSL connection. Internet access from both units is OK.
